This Batik Shirt is made using traditional Batik Terap or Hand Blocked Batik fabric. It is handmade by Batik Artisans in the east coast of Malaysia. Batik Terap uses copper block often designed with floral/nature motifs which is then dipped into hot wax and stamped into cotton fabric. After the stamping process is completed, the fabric is then dyed and boiled to remove the wax residue. There may be imperfections and irregularities in each print as these are the natural characteristics of the handmade Batik fabric. This intricate process makes Batik Making a valuable traditional art in which we should continue to preserve for the generations to come.
